Cynthia Oehlman Foreign Language Scholarship Fund

In the summer of 1970, Cynthia Oehlman, daughter of Edward and Martha Oehlman and sister of Rhonda and Keith was killed in a plane crash in Peru. In furthering her education and sincere interest in foreign languages, she attended an international fellowship program in Lima, Peru. She was on a tour of Cusco when the plane crashed with 46 other students from the United States.

Cynthia would have been a senior at Brookville High School upon her return to the U.S.A. She planned to further her education in college and give expression to her great interest in foreign language by traveling to Spanish-speaking countries. She loved life, her family and her friends.

The Cynthia Oehlman Foreign Language Scholarship was established in 1999 by Marth and Ed Oehlman for fund the further education of a Franklin County High School graduate who wishes to pursue the study of a foreign language.
