Donald M. Jobe Scholarship

Donald Jobe was raised in Milton by Morris and Margaret Jobe. He attended Milton High School and graduated in a class of 16 students. After high school he studied at Center College in Kentucky where he met Billy Jean, his wife of 44 years.

In the fall of 1958 Don and Billy Jean moved to Brookville. He began teaching English and physical sciences his first year at Brookville High School, but afterwards he only taught his favorite subject biology. He coached in the basketball program until 1967, taking the team to semi-state in 1965. He retired for the first time in 1997.

He was a key voice in combining Laurel High School and Brookville High School into Franklin County High School. Jobe returned to education in 2000 as the principal of FCHS and retired the second time in 2002.

The Donald M. Jobe Scholarship was established in 2002 to honor the retirement of Jobe. The award provides a scholarship to students graduating from Franklin County High School. Primary consideration is given to students who plan to study education with the intention of becoming a teacher.
