Mount Carmel Presbyterian Church Scholarship
Mount Carmel Presbyterian Church
Mt. Carmel Presbyterian Church has a rich history in Franklin County. Since the early 1800s, the church has been a vital part of the community. Many folks have graced its doors in the past two centuries. The congregation has seen its sanctuary filled to capacity at times, and at other times dwindle to just a few, but always, there are faithful members who keep the heritage of worship alive for all who find their way to its church services. Today, once again the Mt. Carmel Presbyterian congregation is growing, bringing new faces to its pews.
Rev. Bill Arthur and his wife, Bettie, have demonstrated their interest in creating opportunities for young people to continue their education after high school. Therefore, they created the Mt. Carmel Presbyterian Church Scholarship Endowment through the Franklin County Community Foundation. Primary consideration for the scholarship is given to students who are members of the Mt. Carmel Presbyterian Church. Secondary consideration is given to students who graduate from Mt. Carmel School.
Rev. and Mrs. Arthur preside in Middletown, Ohio. Rev. Arthur has been the pastor at Mt. Carmel Presbyterian Church since August, 2000. Prior to that, he assisted the pastor at the United Church of Christ at Klemmes Corner. While the Arthurís are no longer able to attend Klemmes Corner due to their Mt. Carmel responsibilities, they still claim a close relationship with the churchís congregation.
The initial gift to the scholarship fund was made as a birthday gift to Reverend Arthur by Mrs. Arthur. She hopes her sons and other members of the community will help the fund grow.
