Victor F. Hauberg Scholarship

            Victor F. Hauberg was born in 1931 in the state of Minnesota. He attended Greenville High School in Greenville, Ohio and graduated in 1949. After high school he studied at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. He earned his Undergraduate Degree in 1953 and Masters Degree in 1958. He served in the United States Army from 1953-1955 in between working towards his undergraduate and masters degree.

             He taught at Sidney, Ohio in 1955-1956 and worked as a Grad Assistant at Miami University from 1956-1958. He started in the Guidance Program at Brookville High School in the fall of 1958, while teaching civics. In June of 2000 he retired from the Franklin County School System after 42 years.

             Mr. Hauberg played a role in creating a few school programs. He helped establish the National Honor Society in 1960, started the boys golf program, coached for 22 years, in 1967 and helped start the Dollars for Scholars Program in 1990 at Franklin County High School.

             Victor was very involved in the community. He served on the Brookville Public Library Board for 19 years, Draft Board for 14 years, St. Thomas Church Council for six years, a member of the Brookville Kiwanis for 34 years and part of the Franklin County and Drake County (Ohio) Historical Societies.

             Mr. Hauberg was also ingrained in high school sports and events. He spent 40 years as a member of the "Chain Gang" moving the 10 yard first down chains during high school football games, a varsity basketball scorekeeper for 38 years, helped with the timer in wrestling and was a track and cross country helper. He sponsored Student Council and Prom Committees for 20 years and is a charter member of the Brookville Golf Club.

             Victor has no wife or children, but has a brother and sister, 10 nieces and nephews and 14 great nieces and nephews.

             The Victor F. Hauberg Scholarship was established anonymously in 1999 in honor of Victor F. Hauberg, a teacher, guidance counselor and civic leader to provide an annual scholarship to a graduating Franklin County High School student for the purpose of furthering their education.
